Farewell

Our team attended Ah Shiu's funeral yesterday. It really broke our hearts to see our dear friend's face for the very last time. But that was the reality, it really was, and it's something that all of us find so hard to accept and believe.

I still remember how meticulous he had been in studying the diamonds when he was planning on the wedding rings for his girlfriend and himself. He told me all about the arrows, the hearts patterns that we should look out for at the diamond surface, the clarity, he explained all the 4Cs to me. I remember he told me that he had budgetted RM3000 for both rings. I believe he had given his best with that budget as he had to pay for his new house installment at the same time. We went to each other's cubes to discuss about our dream rings for our respective weddings, and how I assured him that I could get good quality diamond rings at much lower price compared to retail price. I always chased after him to submit his final choice of rings to me so that I could make the order for him, cos he was planning to get his ROM this december or so. I do not know for sure if his girlfriend know about his plan, but yes, he did care that much for her.

The mood in our office this morning was still solemn, everyone missed him dearly. Many times I still wonder, what if I had been more observant about his health condition, things could have been different. The doctor might be so stupid to have never thought about the hemorrhage, but if only I have known better and googled up some info online, things could have been different? I just hope that all my friends out there will be really aware of your health condition, don't ignore it if you're not feeling well.

Above all things, pray and give thanks continually. God bless all of you.

So what is the real reason for the death? Any post-mortem?

According to the post mortem, he had bleeding at the outer wall of his stomach, which also explained why he didn't know about the bleeding since there were no unusual signs shown from the stool whatsoever. Post mortem found 7 clotting in the vessels around his stomach outer wall, and suspected that he suffered from hemmorhage repeated times, but as of the real reason why the hemmorhage happened, nobody could tell for sure...

I remember you have a post regarding the post mortem detail of Shiu, what makes you think that his dealth is not due to workload? It seems very unfair for you to talk for deceased.

Hi PF,

ignore those "anonymous" bad comments who jz want to make things worse...

i appreciate your efforts to clarify my best fren's death.. and thanks for becoming his good fren all the while in Intel PDC~! SC did mention about you several times that you were the closest fren he had in the team... and i do believe that..

as for you...working in Intel is not easy job, plz keep it up but always take care of your health too! i sincerely hope that SC's death will become a reminder about how fragile is our life.. and how to live your life to the fullest!

life isn't that short to enjoy.. but life isn't that long to waste..

thanks...

Dear upset readers,

First of all, I sincerely apologize for making you feel as though I was posting some explanation out of an ingenuine intention. I really don't see how it can be pleasing to my boss cos he probably doesn't even know this blog exists, and it doesn't matter to me if he does or not. If you have read carefully, I did not make any conclusion about the cause of my friend's death. I did not say that it was not due to his workload, neither did I agree it was due to his workload. I could only say that it is not entirely true to say that it was due to his workload and stress at work. A simple question back to you, are you trying to conclude that his death was due to his workload? And who are you to say that? The reason I really wrote out something about the post mortem was for sake of stopping stupid jokes about him I see online, stupid forums gossipping about him, and speculation about what happened. Speculation which made the whole story so 'interesting' to the extent of claiming that he got a heart attack at work and died at office which is totally ridiculous! For the sake of him, show some respect and stop making up stories. Again, I would like to stress that I did not make any conlusion about the root cause, there are always doubts and the post mortem finding isn't the only source that we can rely on. I don't think this is a time for us to dispute, rather, find some ways to show care and support to the family.

James,

Thanks for the encouragement. I wish I could have ignored all the discouraging comments too, but in order to avoid misunderstanding among other readers, I have to comment something. Appreciate your support really ;)

Hopefully life's great for you too. Let's all take good care of ourselves, there are too many beautiful things in this life to enjoy, our family, our friends, our hobbies, dreams... and the list goes on...
